8 Happiness Rituals

Unfortunately, happiness is a fickle beast, and we often have to take steps to make happiness a priority in our lives, otherwise, it’s way too easy to lose sight of it. 

We go to work, spend time with friends, and set goals, but how often do you carve out time in your day to promote it?

Here are some of my favorite ways to cultivate self-love and positive energy in your daily life. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

1. morning drink

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Start your day off on the right foot with a delicious, energizing drink of your choice. Whether you’re a coffee lover, a tea freak, or just someone who loves a glass of ice water with lemon (teach me your ways!), a drink in the morning is an instant gift to yourself that will motivate you to hop out of bed and start the day with a smile.[/vc_column_text][hcode_simple_image alignment_setting=”1″ desktop_alignment=”aligncenter” ipad_alignment=”sm-aligncenter” mobile_alignment=”xs-aligncenter” hcode_image=”267″][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]

2. meditation

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Don’t panic. I’m not suggesting you go off to a yoga retreat in the mountains and “find yourself.” But a few minutes (even one!) of focused breathing in the morning can help set the tone for a calm and peaceful day. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

3. gratitude

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Jotting down the occasional list of people, things, and concepts that are going right in your life can shift your mental focus from the negative to the positive. us, gratitude is fun! My suggestion is to be as specific as possible- be grateful for that great movie you saw the other night, or the killer deal you got on that cute scarf you’ve been eyeing. 4. exercise

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]A little workout can add a shot of endorphins to your life and give you more energy to do other things. It’s a total no-brainer, and as hard as it can be, making time for it will improve your quality of life a lot. [/vc_column_text][hcode_simple_image alignment_setting=”1″ desktop_alignment=”aligncenter” ipad_alignment=”sm-aligncenter” mobile_alignment=”xs-aligncenter” hcode_image=”268″][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]

5. journaling

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Keep a record of your thoughts! Your opinions and feelings matter and a journal where you can write honestly gives you a space to think that’s just yours. Find a cute one and write down your honest thoughts; try not to filter yourself or imagine what people will think if they read them. These thoughts are just for you, so be honest! [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

6. physical touch

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Giving and getting physical affection has been scientifically proven to improve our health. Try and get a hug from a loved one every day! [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

7. staying present

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]Check in with yourself throughout the day. How are you doing? What are you feeling? Make an active effort to stay in the moment. I like to practice present-thinking when I climb the stairs to my apartment; having a location that you use as a consistent check-in spot makes it easier to remember. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

8. bedtime routine

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text]A soothing bedtime routine helps you wind down and end your day on a positive note. A cup of tea, a good book, and a phone charging across the room improves sleep quality and helps you wind down.[/vc_column_text][hcode_simple_image alignment_setting=”1″ desktop_alignment=”aligncenter” ipad_alignment=”sm-aligncenter” mobile_alignment=”xs-aligncenter” hcode_image=”269″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
